Is it okay to use facial oils on combination skin

Using facial oils on combination skin

Facial oils can be beneficial when chosen carefully. Lightweight, non-comedogenic oils like squalane, rosehip, or jojoba often work well because they hydrate and help repair the barrier without clogging pores. Heavier oils—coconut or some dense botanical oils—may be comedogenic in the T-zone and are best avoided there.

Application tips:

  • Use oils sparingly and apply mainly to dry patches or at night.
  • Try the ‘spot-oil’ method: apply oil to cheeks and skip the T-zone.
  • Layer an oil over a water-based moisturizer to lock in hydration.

Choose non-comedogenic oils and look for fragrance-free options if you’re sensitive. If oils trigger breakouts in the T-zone, discontinue or restrict them to dry areas. Facial oils can be a helpful tool for barrier repair and overnight nourishment when used selectively.
